We’d like for you to become a part of something meaningful, something truly rewarding. As a contributor to the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center Fisher House, you will be helping our heroes at a time when they need it most.
The Fisher House, built by generous public donations, offers service members and their families a comfortable living environment during treatment for traumatic war-related medical crises. In most cases, these men and women are being treated far from home; their stays are lengthy due to the severity of their injuries or illnesses.
The Gainesville Fisher House will provide a refuge to veterans, military members and their families in 52 counties in the North Florida and South Georgia service region. It will also serve those from around the country who may come for specialty services. The facility will feature:
- a “home away from home” with 20 all-accessible suites, communal kitchen, laundry facilities, living area, study area, outdoor garden and playground areas.
- providing of 10,000 guest nights each year
- a location on the VA property, adjacent to the medical center
- construction is anticipated in spring 2011
Our service members and veterans took an oath to serve, protect and defend this country. Though they ask nothing from us, we feel a great sense of duty to say, “Thank you,” whenever we come across a person in uniform. Americans are grateful to the young men and women who go bravely into battle for the freedoms we enjoy.
More than 31,000 service men and women have been wounded or injured in Iraq or Afghanistan. A simple thanks or spoken gratitude is no longer enough. Give thanks by getting involved with the Gainesville Fisher House Foundation.
Consider our foundation this upcoming fiscal year when giving through your annual charitable giving program. You can also become a sponsor for one of our charitable fundraising events.
For more information about our organization, you can view the enclosed DVD, visit our website at www.GainesvilleFisherHouse.org or contact us directly.
We look forward to you and your organization becoming a part of our effort.
Sincerely,
Patricia Fabiani, Executive Director
Gainesville Fisher House Foundation
